Cheesy Brats in a Blanket

Perfectly seared, and fully-cooked Johnsonville Bratwurst are tucked into buttery crescent dough with melty cheddar cheese, and baked to a golden perfection. These Brats in a Blanket are the perfect tailgating finger food to make for a crowd.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces crescent dough
  • 6 ounces cheddar sliced rectangle block into 15 thin slices
  • 5 Bratwurst Johnsonville, your favorite flavor
  • 3 tbsps melted butter
  • 1 tbsp everything bagel seasoning

Instructions

  • Start out by grilling, or pan-frying your Johnsonville Bratwurst until fully cooked.  
  • Allow brats to cool until you can slice them into 3 pieces each. You might end up with extra sausage.

  • Open up crescent dough and unwrap each triangle.

  • Slice each triangle into two halves the long way. 
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and preheat the oven to 350 degrees. 
  • Using one half of each slice of crescent roll, wrap sausage and cheese chunk slice into the dough like a blanket.

  • Leave at least 2 inches of space between each on the baking sheet.

  • Bake for 11-12 minutes until crescent dough is puffy and golden brown.

To Reheat
These are best enjoyed the same day, but can be crisped up on a parchment-lined baking sheet at 350 degrees f, for 3-5 minutes. 
How to Freeze Brats in a Blanket
Assemble pigs as directed. Add them in a single layer to a baking sheet and freeze until solid (about 4 hours). Once frozen, add frozen brats to a freezer-safe bag. I would personally keep them frozen for up to 6 weeks for best taste. 
 
How to Reheat from Frozen
Simply add Brats in a Blanket to a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 3-5 minutes on 350 degrees. f.
