Black Melting Candy Covered Halloween Oreos

How To Make Black Melting Candy from white wafers and black food gel to dip Halloween Oreos in!

Ingredients

  • 1 bag white melting candy wafer I used AC Moore brand
  • 1 small black food gel container I used AC Moore brand
  • 15 Halloween Oreos
  • Halloween Sprinkles
  • Candy Eyes

Instructions

  • Since I was not working with real chocolate (candy wafers), I microwaved my full bag of melts in a microwave safe glass bowl in 30 second intervals with a quick stir in-between until creamy.
     Then, to achieve the black hue, I added 75% of the small food gel container to my melted candy. Stir thoroughly and dip each Oreo in one at a time, press the candy eyes into the candy to decorate, add sprinkles, and repeat. This hardens quickly so you want to decorate in-between and move swiftly.  

Notes

 After this experience, I must admit, next time, I will strictly use black Wilton candy wafers, and will not be ambitious to make my own black. While it can be achieved it took nearly the entire gel container to get this almost purple-hued black. Unless your store does not carry these, I recommend using the pre-made black wafers versus trying to mix your own.
