Microwave
microwave-safe bowl
- 8 jumbo strawberries
- 1/2 cup candy melts
- 3 tbsps Valentine's Day Sprinkles
Wash and dry your strawberries. They must be fully dry to make sure the candy adheres and does not cease. Leave their stems on.
Add your candy melts into your microwave-safe bowls.
Microwave candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl at 30 second intervals-stirring in-between each 30-second time frame. Mine took (2) 30-second time frame.
Once creamy, dip your berries in 90% of the way. You want to leave a tiny bit undipped near the stem.
How to Rinse and Dry Strawberries
Ensuring your strawberries are clean by rinsing them thoroughly is super important. However, when making candy or chocolate coated strawberries, making sure your strawberries are dry is also crucial. If your strawberries are wet, they will cease the chocolate or candy. That means the candy or chocolate will become thick, hard, and not dippable.
I use cool water to rinse my berries in a colander.
To dry my berries, I shake out the excess water from the colander and then pat each dry by hand with clean paper towels. I then spread them on a paper-towel lined baking sheet.
How to Make Dipping Chocolate Creamier
Adding 1 tsp (per half cup) of either butter, or vegetable shortening to chocolate or candy morsels will help make the consistency creamier. You can also use coconut oil, but that will leave a flavor.
Add the butter, or shortening in the chocolate or candy melts before they are melted.
How to Store Chocolate or Candy Covered Strawberries
These are best when eaten within 24 hours.
I store mine in the fridge on a baking sheet that is lined with paper towels. The berries will leak out juices in stored too long.
