- 4 Macintosh or Granny Smith apples peeled, cored, wedged to 1/4" thickness
- ¾ cup light brown sugar
- ½ cup Gold-Medal All-Purpose Flour
- ½ cup old fashioned oats or quick cooking oats
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 tsp. cinnamon divided
- ¾ tsp. ground nutmeg
- whipped topping optional
Preheat oven to 375° Fahrenheit. Grease an 8" x 8" square dish with nonstick spray.
Wash, peel, core, and slice apples to a 1/4" thickness. Toss apples with ½ tsp. of cinnamon. Line apples at the bottom of the casserole dish.
In a medium bowl, add sugar, flour, oats, spices, and softened butter. With clean hands work with crisp into small beads. Butter should be incorporated fully into the topping.
Bake apple crisp for 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
Serve crisp warm with some whipped topping or ice cream.
