Best Portuguese Chourico Sandwiches Ever (Family Recipe)

A slightly sweet, spicy, and delicious sauteed ground Portuguese Chourico Sandwich recipe that uses beer, TABASCO Sauce, and tomato paste.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 lbs. Ground Chourico You can ground links yourself in food processor
  • 1 stick salted butter
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 small sweet onion finely diced
  • 8 ounces beer
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 1 tsp TABASCO Sauce * can add more if you like spice
  • 18 Mini Papo seco rolls (Portuguese Buns)

Instructions

  • In a food processor, grind the chourico up a little more to make it finer

  • In a medium stock pot, saute butter, garlic, and onion over medium heat. Cook for about 3 minutes.

  • Add chourico to the pan, with the beer, tomato paste, and TABASCO.

  • Saute chourico over medium heat and the bring to a simmer.

  • Cook for about 15 minutes until alcohol has burned off.

  • Serve chourico in mini Portuguese Rolls. If making for a party, allow chourico to fully cool before wrapping each one.
