Have you ever wondered how to heat and eat canned black beans? Or, how canned black beans could take your next recipe to the next level? Today, I am sharing a 10 Minute Tostada recipe & a little about my latest canned bean obsession.
But first, I wanted to share all about why I am loving BUSH’S Savory Beans. Have you tried them? If the answer is no, you should!
BUSH’S Savory Beans are officially my favorite heat and eat beans. They come in 3 varieties which include: BUSH’S® Black Beans Fiesta™ (15.5 oz.), BUSH’S® Southwestern Style Pinto Beans™ (15.4 oz.) and BUSH’S® Southern Style White Beans (15.3 oz.).
BUSH’S® Savory Beans are made from the best beans simmered in delicious savory sauces. They are perfect as a meal enhancer (like our tostada recipe). You really just have to heat (takes minutes) and eat these beans for a delicious pairing, no matter what else is on your plate.
Best Black Beans for Tostadas
For this 10 Minute Tostada recipe I used BUSH’S Savory Black Beans Fiesta. This variety features black beans mixed with mild chipotle sauce with corns and pepper. It was perfect for tostadas because it had so much flavors built in.
How to heat Bush’s Savory Beans
Wondering how to cook these canned black beans? The answer is super simple! Just add the beans to a small stock pot, and heat over medium/low heat until the beans start to bubble. Once heated, enjoy these tasty black beans with a spoon, or in a canned black beans recipe.
I love how nutritious black beans are, but sometimes they can be bland. However, with BUSH’S Savory Black Beans Fiesta, all the flavor is in the can! Making them the perfect canned bean to add to almost any recipe!
Black Bean Tostadas that are ready in 10 minutes
Have you ever made a tostada before? They are really delicious and feature a grilled tortilla ( I used flour) that is heated until crisp on both sides. Then, they are topped with fresh veggies, and sometimes proteins. I made mine vegetarian for the kids and added fresh salsa, Black Bean Fiesta, and feta cheese.
2 Easy Ways to Heat a Flour Tostada
For this recipe, I used a small skillet, over medium heat. I then added my flour tortilla to it (no oil) and heated for 1 minute per side. You will know they need to be flipped by the bubbles in the crust.
You can also toast them on a baking sheet in the oven (400 degrees f. ) for 3 minutes, flip, and then another 3 minutes on the opposite site.

I love beans and I wish I could say the same about my family. My children eat them, but they are not really fond of it unless it is in chili. My husband would not have any. Oh well, I am happy to have found your recipe though. That means more delicious meals for me!
