Classic and Easy Oven Baked Macaroni and Cheese

One of my family’s favorite comfort foods in the winter happens to be my Two Cheese Oven Baked Macaroni and Cheese recipe. It is one of the trial and error recipes that took a bit of tweaking to get “just right”. Since my kids have always loved mac and cheese, it was my goal to perfect a homemade version that they would eat and actually enjoy.
We all know kids can be so darn picky!
My first attempt used just deli style American Cheese but it fell flat with my kids. So, I figured I add in a slightly saltier, and sharper white cheddar would hopefully balance off the plain American Cheese.
Thankfully, it worked and my last two batches of Two Cheese Oven Baked Macaroni and Cheese was perfect! Lots of ooey gooey cheese, and flavor! Yum..Score for mom on that one!
The latest time I made my oven baked mac and cheese, I had the pleasure of using my latest pan to add to my growing collection.
My Extra Deep Lasagna Pan from the folks at BrylaneHome was perfect for this meal. If I would have doubled or even tripled the recipe, this pan would be IDEAL for potlucks because it has VERY deep walls.
As you can see, this mac and cheese is super creamy!
Ingredients:
- macaroni pasta- 1 package 12 ounces
- butter- 3 tablespoons
- flour- 3 tablespoons
- salt & pepper- to taste
- American Deli Cheese- 1 lb grated
- Sharp White Cheddar- 5 ounces grated
- warm whole milk- 2 cups
Directions:
Boil macaroni until al dente
In a large skillet heat butter, and then whisk in flour; add warm milk (makes the dissolving process easier)
Add grated cheeses, and spice; stir well until full melted
Drain water from pasta and add it to the pain
Carefully pour over the cheese mixture and mix with a wooden spoon
Bake at 350 for 25 minutes
Serve while warm and hot! Your family will LOVE every bite!! Plus, if you need to double or triple the recipe it will be PERFECT for parties!
