Can you believe that in under 3 weeks we will be ringing in the New Year?
Where has the time gone this year?
I know 2018 has treated my family so well, and I can only pray that 2019 will do the same. Our family had a lot of firsts this year and many of them came from our kids. We had our first experience having our three kids in different schools, different bus stop routines, and some independence.
Yes, that is right–my 3 kids are not totally needing me to do everything for them!
My Kids are Becoming More Independent
Now that is surely a plus! My oldest who is 3 months shy from 12 can even prepare basic meals like mac & cheese, pasta, and sandwiches. For us, that is huge!! When you are a busy mom to 3 young kids, any sign of independence is bittersweet but truly appreciated. My daughter now knows how to fully work the stove, and she also knows how to use the microwave, washing machine, dryer, and the thermostat.
As for my other two kids, they know how to use the microwave and the coffee maker for hot water to prep their morning oatmeal! What a fun milestone for them considering some adults cannot even work these gadgets!
Before you giggle, these are such good qualities for a tween/kids to have! My oldest especially loves to make her own meals too which is awesome and one of her faves is the Stir Fry with Soba Noodles Shrimp Bowl. We have also tried the Black Garlic & Wine Risotto and that is a Mom & Dad fave!
Need An Easy Dinner (or lunch) Idea?
I really think that Gorton’s Shrimp Bowls are an easy thing to make for dinner and they are available at Target. I love Target so much so I often restock my supply here because they are good at restocking their freezers…haha! I guess you could say I have some Gorton’s Shrimp Bowl competition.
The Soba Shrimp Bowl has just 290 calories, 16 grams of protein–that is a lot! The flavors are sweet & savory with the perfect kick of spice. I love the soft noodles, crunchy veggies, and yummy shrimp!
But, the best thing is my kids love this easy thing to make for dinner!
In fact, it is their current favorite frozen meal to enjoy when Mommy doesn’t feel like cooking!
I used to have some serious mom guilt, but meals from brands like Gorton’s have helped to ease the feeling. As long as my kids have a hot, tasty, and nutritious meal that is all that matters because some people don’t even have that!
How to Prepare a Gorton’ Shrimp Bowl
A fun product fact about these easy to prepare Gortons’ Shrimp Bowls is that they are ready in 6 minutes in the microwave. Simply vent the film and place them in the microwave according to the package instructions, stir, and return to the microwave. You do not even need to dirty extra dishes either because they are cooked in the very same bowl you can eat them in. That is a score for me because my kids have not yet mastered the washing dishes thing…ahem soapy cups.
