A classic Fall Candy Bark treat that can be made with your choice of melting candies, chocolates, and toppings. Perfect for parties & gifting! May contain affiliate links.
One of my children’s favorite harvest treats is this Fall Candy Bark. They love how fun and easy it is to make because we can mix up the toppings and candy melt colors.
I love that we can melt the candies easily in the microwave. Melting candy wafers are perfect for the microwave because unlike chocolate, they do not seize, but become creamy with the right method.
Throughout the years, I have found that if I microwave my candy melts in 30 second intervals with a quick stir-in between each it gets them perfectly creamy.
To get them creamy, I use a microwavable glass bowl which heats up nicely.
When working with candy melts you have to make sure you do not get the candy wet. I know sometimes my oldest puts dishes away and she does not dry the bowls right. A quick swipe with a kitchen dish cloth or paper towel can keep your candy moisture free.
For this batch of Fall Candy Bark I did not use two different colors of melting wafers. However, you can totally melt one batch and then the other and make two-toned candy bark. A toothpick can help you marbleize the bark like this recipe.
I made a batch of Halloween Candy Bark recently but wanted this batch to feel like harvest to cater to those who don’t do the Halloween thing.
How to Make Candy Bark
- 1 bag of orange candy melting wafers
- 1 cup of pretzels
- 1/4 candy corn
- 3 shakes of Autumn Sprinkles
Other supplies you will need are a small tray/sheet pan, and wax or parchment paper. You will also need space in your refrigerator to chill the bark for at least 8-10 minutes. Candy wafers firm up super fast once they get chilled!
Directions:
In a medium-sized glass bowl add your orange candy wafers.
Line a small baking sheet or tray with wax or parchment paper.
Place in microwave and reduce power to 40%. Set microwave to one minute, and at the 30 seconds mark, stir, and place back in the microwave to repeat until candy is creamy. *Make sure you do not overcook or it will get thick, chunky and seize. My batch took 90 seconds to full melt with one stir at each 30 second interval.
Once candy is melted pour it over a wax or parchment paper lined small platter or baking sheet.
Spread evenly with a rubber spatula.
Add pretzels, candy corn, and other toppings of your choice.
Sprinkle with Fall sprinkles.
Place in fridge to chill.
Your Fall Candy Bark can be broken apart and placed in plastic bags for gifting or tins. I store mine in the fridge in an air-tight container.
