How To Make French Toast Casserole
French toast casserole is a cross between french toast and bread pudding. It is usually prepared the night before and baked the next morning for breakfast. However, this recipe can be prepared the same day because the whole process only takes about 40 minutes!
This French Toast Casserole recipe uses the following ingredients:
- Calise Brioche Style Cinnamon Chip Texas Toast
- eggs
- almond milk
- vanilla extract
- cinnamon
- raisins
You’ll notice that there isn’t any sugar listed in the ingredients. That’s because you can pour maple syrup over your baked casserole or top it with icing as we did in this recipe.
However, if you desire a sweeter recipe, you can add 1/4 cup of sugar to the batter when preparing.
Supplies/tools needed are:
- 2-quart Casserole Dish
- Medium bowl
- Hand mixer
Recipe Steps:
- Start by preheating your oven to 350°F.
- Spray a casserole dish with non-stick coating or coat with butter.
- Break up bread loaf into small chunks, and add them to the greased pan.
- In a medium bowl, add cracked eggs, milk, cinnamon, and extract. Whisk until combined, and fluffy. Room temperature ingredients work better.
- Pour mixture over the bread, and use a rubber spatula to help evenly coat all pieces.
- Sprinkle the raisins to the mixture evenly.
- Bake for 30 minutes. The bread will rise slightly, and have a crisp top, and spring up once gently pressed.
How to Reheat French Toast Casserole
To reheat, simply place a single-portion on a microwave-safe plate and microwave on high for 1 minute. Take it out, mix it, and check its temperature. Microwave for an additional 30 seconds to 1 minute until it has reached your desired temperature.
After reheating, top it with maple syrup or your favorite topping.
Tips
- Allow ingredients like eggs and almond milk to warm to room temperature before mixing.
