Garlic Bacon Sauteed Green Beans Made With Lard. A flavorful way to enjoy fresh green beans. The flavor of the bacon, and crunch of the almonds makes this a must-have side dish.
The spring weather cannot arrive here soon enough. I am so over the wind, snow, and frigid temperatures we have been getting slammed with as of lately. I cannot wait to plant my garden and reap the benefits of what Jared and I sow. One of our favorite vegetables to grow are green beans because we love to saute them!
I love the way fresh green beans smell, and that snap they have is something I cannot wait for!
One of my favorite ways to enjoy green beans are sauteed. That is why I wanted to share this yummy Garlic Bacon Sauteed Green Beans Made With Lard recipe. It is a perfect spring, summer, or winter side dish but tastes even better of course with fresh green beans (not canned).
When I have made these Garlic Bacon Sauteed Green Beans in the past I use to use butter. We all know butter can make things taste amazing, but it actually not the best fat to cook with.
On my quest for healthier fats to use in my baking and sauteing lard often came up. I have never actually cooked with lard, but was open to trying it out. I think it made a big difference in the taste of these beans, but you can use butter if your prefer.

I love green beans, but the other half can’t stand them- he’s more of a brussels sprouts person. Maybe I can make this recipe half and half- I know bacon goes great with brussels sprouts too!

I have never cooked or bought lard before but it looks like it has a bad reputation that may not be deserved if it is low in cholesterol and trans fat. This dish does look good and fresh green beans are so great for the kids.

Those sound amazing! I love recipes that use lard, although I haven’t had anything made with it since my great grandmother passed. I might have to start up the tradition again.
