Green Olive Dip-Perfect for Crackers or Veggies
When I was a kid, my favorite part of Thanksgiving and Christmas was the green olives. My mother would always fill a large tray with green olives, black olives, pickles, and cranberry sauce. This tray was such a hit with us kids because we would take the olives and stick them on our fingers, and then pop them into our mouths. Green olives were just so much to play with and eat. They are what inspired me to share this Green Olive Dip with you all.
If you are a huge fan of green olives, then you will love this salty, and crunchy Green Olive Dip. I love to eat ti best with celery sticks, and carrots, but crackers work too! Mind you, it is not for the faint of heart since the taste of green olives is very prevalent. Thankfully, the cheese and sour cream are virtually tasteless so the olives paired with the walnuts give it a nice taste and crunch.
Some people prefer to stuff this dip into celery stalks, but I found it to be just as good on crackers, or even crostini. It would make a great appetizer for the holidays because it is a savory dip that can be made ahead of time. I just recommend mixing in the walnuts before serving to keep them crunchy. They do get softer if they sit around in the dip, but are still good. This tip is more of a personal preference sort of heads up.

I make a similar recipe using 1/2 pound braunsweiger mashed until soft and spreadable. Then I add 1/2 cup chopped green olives, mixed well together. That is all it takes, spread on crackers or whatever you choose,,, delicious.
