Maryland Crabs from Cameron’s Seafood-Fishy or Fabulous?

Summer is all about delicious seafood! I love nothing more than enjoying some fresh crab, and shrimp outdoors with my family and friends when the weather warms up. I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a Best Seller’s Sampler from Cameron’s Seafood. We also got a trio of Maryland Soft Shell Crabs that arrived live and ready to be prepared.

The Maryland Crabs and other seafood sampler items were packaged in a cold styrofoam box.

Inside the contents included  ½ dozen #1 Male Crabs, 2 Crab Cakes, 1 lb. Spiced Shrimp & 16 oz. Crab Meat Bisque.

What I immediately noticed was that the crab cakes were packaged as batter and needed to be pan-fried. This could be a turn off for some, but I personally loved it because rather than simply heating frozen prepared cakes, I could brown them up perfectly with some butter.

The Maryland Crabs were already steamed and contained some Old Bay Seasoning. The Jumbo Spiced Shrimp were also pre-cooked and ready to enjoy after a flash steam.

The Best Seller’s Sampler also included 16 ounces of crab meat bisque that just needed to be heated as well.

To prepare the Maryland Crabs, simply add them to a steamer basket and steam for about 5 minutes. I added my shrimp to the same steamer and the flavors were still bold and flavorful.

After heating/preparing everything which took about 20 minutes my husband and I sat down for a feast.

I served our little seafood platters with some lemon and have to say everything looked beautiful– but did it taste fishy or fabulous?

My first bite was the Maryland Crab Cakes— holy COW!! These were the BEST crab cakes I have ever experienced! They cooked up perfectly with a crispy, brown edge, and had a sweet, fresh, flavorful taste. I really contemplated on ordering more! They were that good!

The Maryland Crabs were very spiced, and I found the spice to really good. I am not too familiar with Old Bay seasoning, but I enjoyed the bold flavor that really complemented the sweet meat of the crab!

As for the Maryland Male #1 Crabs, I thought these had ample claw meat and lots of white meat in the underbelly.

If you love shrimp, this jumbo Spiced Gulf Coast Shrimp was amazing! It was firm, fresh, and delicious! They did have the shells on but it made for a tasty experience.

The Maryland Crab Meat Bisque was another stellar choice. It was slightly sweet and had lots of delicious texture. I would 100% order this again! If you love a thick bisque that is worthy of dipping your crab cakes, or a biscuit into, then this is an ideal choice!
