Recipe tips
McCormick® Turkey Gravy Mix really makes the flavors of this casserole POP! Made with a blend of spices, seasonings and starch designed to make a thick and savory gravy; this add the sparkle to this turkey casserole.
You will need 2 fully prepared packets for this entire casserole. Be sure to always have extra on-hand because this stuff is so delicious, and simple to prepare!
We added a pinch of McCormick® Pure Ground Black Pepper to it for flavor enhancement. I don’t know about you, but we always have this black pepper on-hand because it offers sharp, fiery flavors. Of course, you can adjust to taste, but this is always a staple here.
You can substitute the turkey meat for ground turkey (browned), rotisserie chicken, or leftover shredded chicken breast.
You can swap the cream of mushroom soup for cream of chicken soup.
If you don’t like cheese, you can skip that step, or swap in Parmesan cheese.
Don’t like garlic mashed potatoes? It is okay, you can skip the garlic in these homemade mashed potatoes.
You can use half & half or heavy cream for even creamier potatoes.
Softened butter should be used for a bolder, buttery taste. It also helps keep the potatoes warmer, and creamier. I suggest leaving the butter out at room temperature for at least 2 hours. Room temperature butter also tastes better on your freshly heated dinner rolls.
McCormick® Brown Gravy Mix prepared, also tastes delicious and can be doctored up with a 1/4 tsp. of McCormick® Pure Ground Black Pepper and a tsp. of fresh thyme.
