Ingredients

Apple Cranberry Filling

  • 3 cups tart apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 10 ounces cranberries frozen or fresh
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Crisp Topping

  • cups quick oats
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F Lightly grease an 11 x7 or a similar-sized oven-safe dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, cranberries, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, granulated sugar, and orange zest. Toss gently until the fruit is evenly coated. Pour the fruit mixture into your prepared baking dish.
  • In another medium bowl, combine the quick oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Add the melted butter to the dry topping ingredients. Using your fingertips or a spoon, work the butter into the mixture until all the oats and flour are moist and wet (no more powder).
  • Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit filling in the baking dish.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the fruit is bubbly and tender, and the topping is golden brown and crisp. If the topping starts to brown too quickly, you can loosely cover it with foil.
  • Let the crisp cool for at least 15-20 minutes before serving. This allows the filling to set slightly. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra treat!
