Chocolate Chip Banana Bars

Soft, moist, and loaded with chocolate chips, these easy-to-make Chocolate Chip Banana Bars are better than banana bread! A perfect way to use ripe bananas.

Equipment

  • jelly roll pan 15 x 10
  • oven adjusted to the center rack position
  • mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 5 small ripe bananas mashed, or 3 large
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ¾ cups unbleached flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350℉.
  • Using a banana masher, mash your bananas in a large bowl.
  • In the same bowl, add your eggs, milk, oil, and sugar.
  • Combine well with a wooden spoon.
  • Add in the salt, baking soda, and flour; combine well with a spoon.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips into the batter.
  • Grease a 15 x 10 jelly roll pan and pour in batter.
  • Bake for 22 minutes. Edges will be golden brown. Use a toothpick to test the center of the bars to determine if they are fully baked. It should come out clean when inserted, and removed.

Notes

Freezing Instructions
Allow bars to fully cool. Place entire baking sheet in the freezer for 2 hours. Once bars are solid, cut them into squares using a knife. Store in an airtight bag for up to 1 month.
