Equipment

  • large skillet
  • Stovetop
  • cutting board & knife
  • 5-quart pot

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces Mrs. T's 4 Cheese Medley Pierogies
  • 14 ounces kielbasa
  • 1 large sweet onion
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Boil 4 quarts of water and then add frozen pierogies. Return them to a boil. Cook for an additional 3 minutes and then drain.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of butter and the sliced kielbasa. Cook until browned on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet. Add the sliced onions and cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until softened and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Add the cooked pierogies and kielbasa back to the skillet with the onions. Toss to coat everything in the butter and onions. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Plate the pierogies and top with your desired toppings, such as sour cream, chives, sauerkraut, or apple sauce.
