Why We Love this Easter Snack
This recipe is perfect for Easter because it is both festive and delicious. The popcorn is coated in a sweet and gooey marshmallow mixture, and then topped with Easter egg candy and sprinkles.
The marshmallow mixture is sweet and sticky, and the popcorn is salty and buttery with a nice crunch. It is also the best of sweet and savory! I loved the Easter egg candies and sprinkles which add a festive touch, and the overall yummy flavor.
Ingredients:
Popcorn – We used The Popcorn Factory Butter flavored popcorn. Normally, we use buttery microwave popcorn or air popped. Just be sure to remove all the seeds!
Butter – If you use salted popcorn you will not want to use salted butter. However, if you use plain, air-popped popcorn you will want to use salted butter.
Mini marshmallows – These melt the best with the right consistency.
Easter egg candy – I used Peanut and Plain Easter M&MS.
Easter sprinkles – I had some Wilton sprinkles leftover from last year I added.
Making Easter Candy Popcorn
Prepare your popcorn if using freshly popped. We used buttery popcorn from The Popcorn Factory for our recipe. Add it to a large bowl.
Over low heat, in a medium stockpot, melt the butter. Then, add the marshmallows. Stir until mixture is white, fluffy, and melted.
Pour the melted marshmallow and butter over the popcorn. Add the Easter candies of your choosing, and stir.
Spread the mixture out over a parchment or wax paper-lined baking sheet and then add the Easter sprinkles.
If using, melt the candy melts according to the package directions and drizzle over the popcorn.
Sprinkle with the remaining sprinkles and decorate with Easter candies.
Let cool completely before breaking it up and storing it in a large plastic bag or container.
Easter Candy Popcorn Tips
- For a more festive look, use different colors of sprinkles.
- You can also add other Easter candy to the popcorn, such as jellybeans, chocolate eggs, or Reese’s Pieces.
- If you don’t have a double boiler or stockpot, you can melt the butter and marshmallow in a large, microwave-safe bowl. Stir in-between each 45-second interval to ensure mixture is melting and creamy.
- Adding the candy to a wax or parchment-lined baking sheet helps it harden with minimal cleaning.
- Store the popcorn in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Overall, this is a delicious and festive recipe that is perfect for Easter. It is sure to be a hit with kids and adults alike!
