This delicious Peanut Butter Poke Cake features chopped candy bars, caramel, chocolate, and more! It is a peanut butter lover’s dream come true! Every bite is a tasty explosion of yummy flavor!
If peanut butter desserts make you weak in the knees, you will love this easy dessert recipe. It is pretty easy to bake up and requires common pantry staples you might even have on-hand.
I always tend to have items like boxed cake mix on-hand. Making desserts with doctored mix is my specialty. You might even like this Pistachio Cake or these Cake Mix cookies.
Ingredients
- 1 box white or yellow cake mix *You will prepare according to box and will need your water, eggs, oil, etc.
- 1/2 + 3 tbsps cup creamy peanut butter
- 6 ounces caramel sauce
- 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
- 8 ounces Cool Whip
- 1 1/2Â cups Reese’s cups
- 3 tbsps chocolate sauce
- 1/2 cup peanut butter chips
- 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate morsels
How to Make Peanut Butter Poke Cake
Bake your cake according to the package instructions. I used a 9 x 13 glass Pyrex dish. You can line it with parchment if you want to remove it from the pan and re-plate it.
Once baked, it must cool fully before you add the sweet and creamy peanut butter mixture.
After it cools, poke 60 holes in it using a straw and add the mixture (see recipe card below).
Allow it to cool in the fridge once again before frosting.
Once cooled, frost and add the peanut butter cups and toppings.
You can omit any topping you might not have on hand as long as the whipped topping and cups remain.
Tips for the Easiest Poke Cake
Allowing this to fully cool before adding the whipped topping is probably the most crucial tip.
Also, making sure to add ample holes for the mixture to seep through is important. Try not to poke holes too close to the edge or you will have a hard time getting an even slice.
A rubber spatula helps to make sure the sweet mixture gets in the holes nicely.
