This dessert recipe is quick and easy to make for your next Summer party. Featuring fresh strawberries, real cream, and graham cracker crust, this frozen pie dessert requires no baking!
Looking for a refreshingly sweet no-bake strawberry pie? If so, this recipe which is ice-cream like is sure to make your taste buds happy. Made with common, store-bought ingredients, this frozen dessert can be made in the morning and served in the evening.
The beauty of this Strawberry Frozen Pie is that you can switch it up a little bit and still get delicious results. You can use either fresh or frozen strawberries in this sweet treat. Either would work well in it, but I went with fresh strawberries since they were cheaper.
Ingredients shopping list
Here are the items you will most likely need to make this summer strawberry treat.
- Fresh or frozen strawberries
- 1 graham cracker premade crust
- Sweetened condensed milk
- Heavy whipping cream
- Strawberry Jam
- *optional whipped topping
Homemade graham cracker crust
I love easy recipes that are no-bake and prefer to buy things like premade graham cracker crusts. However, if you wanted to make your own 9″ pie, you would need the following:
- 1 1/2 cups of finely crushed graham cracker crumbs
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 6 tablespoons of melted butter
Mix all ingredients in a bowl until combined. Firmly press mixture into a 9″ pie pan and bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Allow crust to fully cool before adding any mixture to it.
Making strawberry ice cream pie
For this recipe, you will need to do a few things to make it a success. Be sure to make sure your heavy cream is nicely chilled and cold before use.
You will need a stand mixer or a quality hand mixer to beat your heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
I do not suggest using strawberry jelly as it will not be the correct texture. Strawberry jam is thicker and melds well with the condensed milk and whipped cream.
You may add the chopped berries throughout the pie or just on the top of the pie. I have done it both ways and they both worked well.
Chilling frozen pie
This pie takes a full 6 hours to chill until firm consistency. I suggest making it in the morning and placing it in the freeze uncovered until fully frozen. Once froze, you may cover it.
Serving frozen pie
Once pie is frozen solid, it will need to thaw on the counter for about 10 minutes before slicing. To serve, use a pie spatula which looks like a long triangle and knife to cut the pie neatly. I find a wet knife slides through the mixture nicely.
Serve with a spot of whipped cream and extra berries as shown, or enjoy alone.
What does this pie taste like?
This Frozen Strawberry Pie tastes just like homemade strawberry ice cream and uses some of the same ingredients. It is very rich and delicious so a smaller sized piece will go a long way.
For cookouts and BBQs, make sure you keep this pie in a freezer until enjoying or it will turn into a watery, sticky mess.
