With the New Year in full swing, I have to admit, I am actually on track with my health goals! Typically, I would have already crashed and burned on some sort of strange diet, but this is going to be my more balanced year. I have been consistently going to the gym even when it’s the last place I’d rather be some days, and I have been making small nutritional changes.
The one thing I wanted to nix this year was conventional white sugar. I decided that my morning coffees were the place to start so out with the sugar, and in with the Truvia Spoonable. If you are not familiar with this sweetener product, it is a zero-calorie, stevia (plant) based sweetener. With just one packet of Truvia Natural Sweetener, you get the same sweetness as two teaspoons of sugar.
Amazing huh?
Originally, I started using Truvia Natural Sweetener packets, but really love the Truvia Spoonable which I purchase at my local Walmart store (in the sweetener aisle), I switched to that convenient packaging. I love how easy it is to use when baking, cooking, and needing that perfect amount of sweetness that can be precisely measured out.
My favorite part of using Truvia Spoonable is that it fits my balanced lifestyle goals, and it does not leave that icky after taste other sugar substitutes can plague one’s tongue with! As mentioned, it is also amazing for cooking! I have used Truvia Spoonable in pasta sauce recipes, and even BBQ sauce recipes where conventional sugar would be called for.
Of course the results were amazing! I was recently inspired by the Kansas City Style Barbecue Sauce Recipe With Truvia Natural Sweetener on the official Truvia site. Of course I adapted it slightly to reflect ingredients I had at home, but the end result was a thick, hearty, and sweet BBQ sauce that even my youngest child loved!

You can double baste this BBQ sauce on or reserve extra for dipping. It works great as a dip since it is thick! Your sauce with be thick, and a deep reddish brown color. I found this BBQ sauce to have the right amount of sweetness and tang. It is certainly not like store-bought bottles BBQ sauce, but is welcomed in our house because it is tastier, and has less sugar verses conventional recipes.

Honey BBQ is my favorite kind of chicken. I have never made my own sauce, though. I need to try that.

I love making homemade bbq sauce. It always tastes so much better than anything from a bottle, and you’re right about how easy it is. Smart to sub out the sugar for Truvia Spoonable! #client
