Cheeseburger Egg Rolls Ingredients
- Ground beef – Laura’s Lean 96% Lean/4% Fat Ground Beef makes up the base of the filling. It is seasoned with black pepper, garlic powder, sea salt, and onion powder to season it. I love how Laura’s Lean 96% Lean/4% Fat Ground Beef adds protein and flavor to the egg roll filling. Laura’s Lean Beef is high in protein, and lower in fat and calories. It is also the #1 natural beef brand in the country with no added hormones.
- Egg roll wrappers – The egg roll wrappers are the outer shell of the egg roll. They are made with wheat flour and eggs, and they are pliable enough to be filled and rolled.
- Shredded cheese – The shredded cheese adds a creamy and cheesy flavor to the egg rolls. You can use your favorite blend of cheese, but cheddar cheese is a classic choice.
- Tomatoes – The tomatoes add a bit of sweetness and acidity to the egg rolls. They also help to balance out the richness of the cheese and ground beef.
- Onion – The onion adds a bit of crunch and flavor to the egg rolls. It also helps to keep the filling moist.
- Pickles – The pickles add a bit of tang and acidity to the egg rolls. They also help to balance out the richness of the cheese and ground beef.
- Egg wash – The egg wash is used to seal the egg rolls. It helps to create a crispy and golden-brown crust when the egg rolls are fried.
- Cooking spray – The cooking spray is used to prevent the egg rolls from sticking to the pan when they are fried.
How to Make Air Fryer Cheeseburger Egg Rolls
Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F.
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
Season the ground beef with black pepper, garlic powder, sea salt, and onion powder.
Place an egg roll wrapper on a flat surface. Place about 2 tablespoons of the ground beef mixture in the center of the wrapper. Add a teaspoon of onion, tomato, and pickles followed by some cheese.
Fold the bottom corner of the wrapper over the filling, then fold in the sides. Roll up the wrapper tightly, sealing the edges with egg wash.
Repeat steps 5-6 with the remaining egg roll wrappers and filling.
Add the egg rolls in a single layer to the air fryer basket and spray with cooking spray.
Cook for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce. We love sour cream, but you can use what you prefer.
Recipe Tips & Variations
- For a crispier crust, rotate the egg rolls and spray with additional cooking spray halfway through air frying. Just be sure not to spray the oil near the heating elements.
- If you don’t have egg roll wrappers, you can use wonton wrappers or spring roll wrappers. However, they will be super tiny.
- You can use any type of cheese you like in the filling. Cheddar, mozzarella, and Swiss are all good choices. We used a cheddar blend.
- You can add other vegetables to the filling, such as carrots, celery, or bell peppers.
- Serve the egg rolls with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, mustard, thousand island dressing, or sweet and sour sauce.
Storing Cheeseburger Egg Rolls
Refrigerator – You can store cooked cheeseburger egg rolls in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To do this, place the egg rolls in an airtight container or bag. When you’re ready to eat them, reheat them in the oven or air fryer until they’re heated through.
Freezer – You can also freeze cooked cheeseburger egg rolls for up to 3 months. To do this, place the egg rolls in a single layer on a baking sheet. Freeze them for 1-2 hours, or until they’re solid. Then, transfer the egg rolls to an airtight container or bag. When you’re ready to eat them, thaw them in the refrigerator overnight and then reheat them in the oven or air fryer until they’re heated through.
