Caramelized Onion, Pear, Fig, & Brie Puff Pastry
This puff pastry appetizer is perfect for celebrating the holiday season with adults. You can cut your pastry into smaller pieces to get 12 slices that would be ideal for Hors D’ Oeuvres tables. The delicate, flaky crust of the puff pastry, creamy brie, sweet pears, fig, and savory onions hit every taste bud perfectly. This appetizer is the best companion for pinot noir.
The best part about making this sweet and savory pastry is that it can be ready from start to finish in about 45 minutes.
Ingredients
Puff pastry – Each box of store-bought comes with two sheets. You will only need one sheet for this unless you want to double the recipe. Make sure you thaw the pastry in the fridge and take it out 10 minutes before using.
Brie cheese – This cheese has a nice flavor that is creamy and not overpowering. When you remove the rind, and soften this cheese you can typically spread it. Gouda would also be tasty for this recipe.
Figs – Fresh figs add a sweet flavor that balances well with the savory. These also look pretty on the appetizer.
Pear – Juicy, fresh pears pair so perfectly with the brie and onions–so delicious! You can use apples if you cannot find pears.
Honey – A tiny swizzle at the end adds a tasty sweetness to the pastry.
Spices/Herbs – Italian herbs are my favorite for this! Fresh mint is optional for a finishing garnish and adds a nice pop of color to the overall look of the appetizer.
Onions – Caramelized onions add a tasty sweet and savory depth of flavor.

Leftovers
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. To crisp this back up, add the pastry to an air fryer and cook on air fry for 5 minutes at 350 degrees F. You can also add the leftovers to a baking sheet and reheat in the oven for 10 minutes at 350 degrees F.
